Langley Methodist Church

Langley Methodist Church,

Windermere Road, Langley Estate, Middleton.

Langley Methodist has now closed with the congregation joining Long Street Methodists.  The site is due for redevelopment as are large areas of the Langley Estate.

The Last service before the closure of Langley Methodist Church was on Wednesday the 26th July 2006

The Preacher:  Rev. Bill Davies.

The Methodist Church opened in 1959 on the Manchester overspill estate of Langley.  The new estate started to be developed in the early 1950's with families moved in to the new housing from the slum clearance areas of Manchester, the eventual population was about 25,000 - doubling the size of Middleton.

Langley Methodist Church was funded from the closure and sale of older Middleton chapels including Hebers and Sadler Street.
